Class of 2020: Aleah

When the class of 2020 came back from spring break, the world was a different place. In Kentucky, Governor Beshear had us ready for a lockdown. In Bowling Green, President Caboni had announced an extension on WKU’s spring break, which started as a week and turned into the rest of the semester (kind of). COVID-19 had hit, and the world had to hit pause.

Unfortunately for the class of 2020, this meant canceled events, canceled “lasts” of college, and canceled graduation. That’s why these photos of Aleah are coming a year late—she received her diploma in the mail in the summer of 2020, but never got to walk across the graduation stage.

Aleah and I went to the same high school, but it wasn’t until a mutual friend introduced us that we became friends. I was in my sophomore year when Aleah came to WKU, and that is when we became best friends!

Aleah is creative, passionate, intelligent, reflective, and hilarious. She’s also absolutely beautiful and can work magic with a makeup brush and an online shopping cart. I adore her and I am so happy to share a few of her (delayed) senior photos!

Introducing Aleah, Western Kentucky University Class of 2020.

Ban.do Wants You To Feel Better

A brand that always seems to be on my mind is Ban.do. Ban.do is a lifestyle brand that ‘encourages joy’ in all they do. They sell accessories, clothes, and stationary, and they have recently been focusing heavily on their ‘Feel Better’ line of products. Since discovering Ban.do (and truthfully becoming a superfan), I have never seen a more authentic company. Ban.do has a strong social…

The company’s primary industry is “athletic footwear, apparel, equipment, and accessory products for men, women, and children”. Nike is consistently releasing new, innovative gear that aligns with their…

‘Hamilton’ in the Flesh

I was writing some promotional content for TicketBitch and used it as an opportunity to quickly reflect on one of the best nights of my life. Please go see Hamilton! While in London, I was able to see the Hamilton West End production. The cast, like the Hamilton Broadway production, was chosen with great care and intention, from Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr to each member…

Inside Harlaxton

It’s officially been two months since our planes landed in London, yet I remember those first few days like they were yesterday. Two months ago, we defeated jet lag. Earlier this week, I realized I don’t even take naps anymore. Two months ago, we started living at Harlaxton. But I still find myself looking at the manor through the window of our shuttle going into…

Lands’ End Canvas Branding Plan

For the final project in our Advertising Media class, my team was given the task of creating a branding plan for the clothing brand Lands’ End. We chose to focus specifically on Lands’ End’s Canvas line, which strives to create a brand that can compete with other higher-end clothing lines on an international level by using contemporary designs with slimmer-fit silhouettes and trendier styles. We…

Should Brands Take A Stand?

Oreo stands with the LGBT community. Airbnb has publically stated how they support refugees and are against neo-Nazis. These two companies, according to Molly DeWolf Swenson’s article for Adweek, are two of a small list of brands who take a stand on tough social issues. Brands like Oreo, Airbnb, Chipotle, and Patagonia have set themselves apart from other brands in a controversial way. While many…
